Number 1 you don't need a oil change every week, every 3,000 miles along with a oil filter. It is a good idea to check the oil level once a week and have a couple of extra quarts of oil in the trunk for a spare. Also check the headlights, taillights, turn signals, and checking the tires for proper air pressure with a visual walk around inspection. Have someone check the radiator for fluid levels, brake fluid level, check fan belts for tightness, basic common sense things. They don't have to e done everyday, but be aware of things and think safe......
