If the economy of this country (UK) is in a dire situation .....?

.... how on earth can the Government be earmarking �50 million to build a coastal path round England? The mind boggles. I know it's maybe a nice idea, although I pity the land owners who will have to keep checking their patch to make sure erosion hasn't put all these 'free to roamers' in jeopardy of plunging into the sea, but I don't understand how they can be even considering this sort of expenditure. Do you think this is justifiable?
