Do all parcels go through the couriers hub?

This is stupid but, say your door number was 3 and you wanted to send a parcel to someone else on your street say their number was 16, and you arranged a courier to pick it up do you think the courier would drive up and drop it off or would they have to bring it back to the depot?.
